I just recently went on a mini vacation with my family, and we had one day of beautiful weather, and it reminded me of how much I’m looking forward to the summer. It is usually pretty hard to get me inside over the summer months, so I absolutely loved going rollerblading and having dinner on a patio out in the sunshine!
Being away also reminded me of how easy it is to get out of my usual routine. There are parts of my routine that I don’t mind leaving at home – things like cleaning, washing dishes, and rushing to make meals. But I realized how important it is to demonstrate and live out my faith to my kids regardless of what time of the year it is or where we are. God doesn’t take vacations or leave us out of His ‘routine’ whenever He chooses – we shouldn’t either.
Just because the summer months are around the corner, it doesn’t mean we have to compromise our summer activities to spend time with God. What can you do this summer that will integrate your faith into your routine? Maybe a BBQ will be the perfect opportunity to fellowship with a believer or witness to a non-believer. Maybe while you’re out for a walk, you pray with your kids. Maybe you invite someone at the park to church or a Pointgroup.
I look forward to see how God will use me this summer as I’m out and about, and what my children will learn from my obedience.
